How Taskbridge Tapped Into the Power of the Niche

August 17, 2023

In the diverse landscape of Dynamics solutions, customization endures as the gold standard for addressing businesses’ needs.

Nixon Power Services’ Natalie Locke says she was first exposed to the world of Dynamics during a summer internship – and the resulting software, Taskbridge, propelled her organization into the role of full-fledged ISV, set to present at resco.NEXT 2023, a premiere enterprise mobility conference set to be held in Marbella, Spain, Oct. 24-25.

Nixon Power Services is a company that designs, installs and services power generators.

“A lot of times, it’s really hard to find a customized platform specifically for a niche area like generator distribution,” Natalie says.

So, the company decided to build its own.

Nixon Power Services hired a full-time developer, Natalie says, to tailor Dynamics CRM to its needs. A few years later, they had a robust, proven solution for generator distribution, and other organizations were taking notice.

“Other companies saw our success,” Natalie says. “They were wondering what we were doing, and they came to us and asked, ‘What’s your secret?’”

So, Natalie told them.

Still new to the CRM space – she had worked as a special education teacher before her summer internship – Natalie fused the knowledge she had picked up during Nixon’s CRM customization process and the skills she had developed during her time in education to train a third-party generator distributor.

Taskbridge was born.

Unlike generic CRM solutions, Taskbridge was designed with an in-depth understanding of the nuances within the generator distribution sector. Out-of-the-box CRMs focus on the sales process, but in the generator industry, project management and project engineering often require around a year of lead time before a generator hits a job site.

The software’s specificity has started gaining a following. Currently, Taskbridge serves six clients and runs two apps. The first, designed for residential dealers selling home generators, connects to Field Service and Dynamics. The second, built in collaboration with Resco.net, is meant for technicians who want to update their clients and office in real-time.

Taskbridge’s success has landed it a place at Resco.NEXT, a premiere enterprise mobility conference set to be held in Marbella, Spain, Oct. 24-25. Natalie says she will represent Taskbridge at the event and plans to share some lessons she’s learned launching her first piece of software.

“I’ll be talking about some of our pain points that we went through,” she says. “Bringing a new customer and new app, and launching that, there’s always some things that come up.”

Based on what we know about Taskbridge – and Natalie – it’s sure to be an enlightening experience.
