E256: Pat Esposito on Vertex, Tax Tech, and DynamicsCon 2025

· PartnerTalks

When the Microsoft Dynamics community gathers for this year’s DynamicsCon, attendees can expect more than just networking and learning opportunities — they’ll also find
industry leaders like Vertex pushing the boundaries of innovation in tax technology.

Set to be held May 13–16, DynamicsCon draws more than 1,000 attendees and features hundreds of sessions led by a diverse range of speakers.

For companies like Vertex, it’s a key opportunity to both showcase advancements
and engage with the broader community.

“DynamicsCon is just a fantastic event,” said Pat Esposito, director of strategic partner development at Vertex, during an interview on PartnerTalks. “It really brings together the entire Dynamics community. We share knowledge, we network, we learn from each other.”

A dual presence on the show floor

This year, Vertex will have booths in both the main expo hall and the VIP section - a move Esposito said reflects the company’s desire to increase face time with clients, Partners and prospects. “Our opportunity here is really to connect,” he said. “I think the ‘Con’ (in DynamicsCon) really stands for ‘Connecting the Industry.’”

Vertex has supported DynamicsCon for several years and has seen the conference grow significantly, with a wide mix of SMBs, mid-market firms and large enterprises attending. Esposito said this range makes it an ideal venue for demonstrating how Vertex solutions scale to meet varied business needs.

Tax solutions designed for a global, digital world

Esposito will lead a session on building comprehensive tax capabilities in today’s increasingly complex compliance landscape. With Vertex serving customers in 240 markets, the company emphasizes scalable, localized solutions.

“Wherever you transact in the world, taxes are part of your life,” said Esposito. “Whether global to you means expanding your neighbourhood grocery or launching a multinational B2B business, the same challenges apply.”

One area Vertex is spotlighting this year is the use of artificial intelligence in tax content categorization, especially relevant for large retailers with thousands of SKUs. The company will also showcase innovations in e-invoicing, developed to help European Partners meet strict filing mandates.

Strengthening the Partner ecosystem

Long known for its Partner-first approach, Vertex is deepening its investment in collaboration across the Microsoft ecosystem. The firm works not only with Microsoft directly, but also with ISVs, accounting firms and industry-specific experts to develop tailored solutions.

“We have a completely revitalized Partner enablement plan,” Esposito said. “Partners are everything. Come visit. We want Partners.”

With its presence at DynamicsCon, Esposito said Vertex aims to do more than promote products. It wants to listen, collaborate and drive mutual growth with Partners and customers alike.

“It's not just a great time,” said Esposito. “It’s a great time to expand our business together.”
